Why must I tempt fate?
Things are going well, then I
open my big mouth!
The gods knew I was getting cocky. I was telling another stay at home mom that I recently met in my neighborhood, "Oh yeah. Feedings; Naps. We're on a schedule." ~DONG, DONNGG, DOOONNNNG~ Do you hear it? For whom does the bell toll? It tolls for me.
Just as I had uttered the word "schedule" there must have been a shift in the planets, a tear in the space/time continuum. Ever since that moment, my life has been off kilter. Baby Girl refuses to nap for more than 40 minutes. This may sound like a lot, but it's not. She wants to eat (or more accurately, drink) all the time. She cries when not held. This is HUGE; BG used to be an "independent" baby. She loved to play with her toys, sitting on the floor, with you in the room. But now she is needy. I kinda like that she wants me, but I also feel like we are backtracking.
I'm not even completely sure that there is actually anything wrong. Well, with anyone except for me. As a former teacher, I had learned to live my life in 50 minute segments. I always knew exactly what I'd be doing for each of those blocks of time. Now, I have a life of gossamer. The time floats here and there. I do try to keep a schedule, but as many of you know, a baby doesn't always follow the plan. I just wish she could write down her daily agenda for me, and I SWEAR I would follow it. I'd just like a little heads up as to what we were going to be doing and when. Is that too much to ask???

9 I thought that...:
I think that's the most frustrating thing about year one. As soon as you figure out what they like/need/want, they change!
It is frustrating dealing with the changes. Hang in there! :)
Just when you think things are settled they play the old switch-a-roo on ya. It never fails.
Hang in there!
hang in there, kiddo. my advice for everyone is always: this too shall pass.
and when it passes, it becomes somehting else again.... lol
I relate to the 50-minute time segments we lived by as teachers. It must be challenging to figure that out with a little one. Good luck with this.
Hugs and blessings,
Love the haiku! Happy Friday!
You nailed it. Thank you Murphy's law. But yep, it will pass!
I hated that, too. Are you going from three naps to two? Or two to one? Cause that sounds like the problem. Or if that's not the case, it could be teeth.
I always blamed "growing spurts" for unusual changes in baby's schedule. I hope things calm down for you soon.
Your Haiku was cute. :)
