With Baby Girl nearing her 9 month birthday, TH and I decided to lower her crib. To take it down a notch. This is a good thing. I would hate for anything to happen to her - anything that I could have easily prevented. How horrible it would be if she had fallen out of her crib, because I hadn't taken the time to lower it.
Well, having said it's a good thing is true. And not. I am fairly short and now with the crib in its lowered position, I have a hard time putting her down. I have to stretch over the rail (yes, it's also down) and then I can sit her down. Yes, into a sitting position. This is not the most conducive for sleeping. At least not for us. Maybe for you, but not us. Then from this seated position, I have to kinda tip her back. So I don't think it's that good. I know it's the right thing - lowering the crib - but I just wish I didn't have to. Argh, this just means she's growing up. Way too quickly!

5 I thought that...:
I know what you are talking about. I've often wondered if I should put a little step stool next to the crib to help me get Ben into the crib. His mattress is on the lowest setting now, and he weighs as much as a calf, so it is back-breaking trying to get him into his crib. Ack!
I'm with K. I always just kinda dropped the baby over the side. He didn't seem to mind, and me, being 5 ft 2 I didn't have other options. You'll figure out the groove. Just like every step of the way.
Yep, I have the same problem. As AFF said, you'll find a way that works for you.
I was just thinking that it's about time to lower the mattress (7 months). I'm a bit taller (the immense 5'4"), but when I'm massively pregnant, I have to do the drop and pray too!
Oooh, I remember that. I'm tall, and that phase was hard for me too. Don't worry, soon she'll be standing in her crib trying to climb her way out and then she'll be cribless all together (which is NO fun). Our daughter climbed out one day around 14 months. We heard a thud on the ground one morning, and she was on the ground. She was fine, but she's been in a toddler bed ever since. Getting in and out of bed driving us nuts!
